JAKIM Awarded Ajinomoto Company “The Best Malaysian Halal Certificate Holder”

KUALA LUMPUR, 2nd December 2021 – It was a notable achievement for Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Berhad (AMB) to receive “The Best Malaysian Halal Certificate Holder” Award under the Large Industry Category by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), during the National Halal Conference 2021. The conference was launched by the Malaysian Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri.

The award was presented to the AMB Chief Production Officer, En. Azhan Mohamed by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), YB Senator Tuan Haji Idris Haji Ahmad on 23rd November 2021.

The dawn of AMB’s presence dates back to 1961, when it first started its business operations as the sole producer of the AJI-NO-MOTO® Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) in Malaysia. This earned AMB the reputation of being one of the very first Japanese companies in the country.

In 1965, AMB was awarded the Halal certification, following the commencement of its “AJI-NO-MOTO” plant operations. The company has since grown into a dynamic food and seasoning manufacturer, boasting diverse brand names trusted by Malaysians nationwide for decades.

As a household brand, AMB has always been fully committed in compliance with the Malaysian Halal Certification Standard to fulfil the needs of the local and export markets.

The new plant’s relocation to the Halal Hub at Bandar Enstek, Negeri Sembilan in the next year will further promote AMB’s strength as a trusted halal food company that is well-liked by all stakeholders across the local and overseas markets, including the Middle East.
